Are we poor because bill gates has all our money saved in his bank?

Friday, September 4th, 2009

When you think about it, the rich who don’t spend don’t recycle money. We buy their products thus spending our money and they retain it.

In a way aren’t they draining the economy?

Bank failures and the president?

Friday, September 4th, 2009

98 banks failed during the Clinton years, but only 29 have failed since 2001. Do you think this makes Clinton a worse president
on the economy than Bush?

Search here for bank failures by year.

are all the bank employees really busy in this bad economy//?

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

i know the economy is really really bad, but are all the bank employees really busy with their jobs..how is citigroup doing..

is it rude to call someone and talk to them for a minute or two..after the mumbai attacks, i called my family in delhi. he answered the phone. i said hi to them and asked how he is doing and asked hoe everyone else and everything is then i gave the phone to my mom. the thing that makes me sad is my cousin from india came to visit me last summer in america with his wife and 2 boys for a week. i dont want to think they came all the way to america and i dont remember them. the worst part is my mom doesnt allow me to call them because they dont call us. i wrote to him for india’s repubic day, but no reply. he is the vp of citifinancial and i am guessing he might be really really busy and now i feel bad for writing to him. he told me his company doesnt mind email messages. what is your opinion

Should Yahoo Answers not have a separate Economy,Banking and Commerce Section?

Monday, August 10th, 2009

To raise questions and issues on economy, commerce,Banking and finance which are very vital , keeping in view of the current happenigns of economic tormoils going on, and get opinions and guidance from the economists and Banking Authorities, I did not find any such section in Yahoo Answers, except a reference as Economics under Social Sciences.
Should there not be a separate Economy,Banking and Commerce related section here?

U.S Bank Failure. Are you sure your money is safe?

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

28 Sept. 2007. Online bank shut down by the U.S. government. The bank’s dirty little secret was excessive level of mortgage defaults. The FDIC only insures up to $100,000. $109 million of Americans money was not insured and is lost. Hope your money is not in this bank. Who will be next to go? Are you sure your bank is safe or does it have dirty little secrets of it’s own.

Even if you think you money is safe “today”. Shouldn’t news like this send up a “red flag” that something is terribly wrong with the economy. Maybe this is just the beginning.

Heading towards another depression?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

How close are we to another depression? Will the stock market crash like 1929? Will it be worse than the one 70+ years ago? Will FDIC help? 401Ks lost? When do you think it will happen and what will happen as a result? Can our economy get back on track?

How will Obama fix the economy?

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Here are a few things that I think would help. Is there anything on this list that Obama said he will do?

1- Less government spending
2- Limitations on trial lawyers
3- Less business regulation (except for those damn banks)
4- Less personal income redistribution
5- Fewer environmental regulations
6- Less unionization
7- More free trade/less protectionism
8- Lower minimum wage
9- More oil drilling
10- More nuclear power
11- Less corporate taxation
Come on Obama supporters…specifics please!!

Sorry Nicole, you’re solution is called socialism and has been proven to not work.
Thank you Joseph. So far you have the only pro-Obama answer that is even marginally thoughtful. I do agree that the economy would be fine if the government did nothing. The problem I believe is that they will screw with it by doing the opposite of what is on my list.

Who do you blame more for the Housing/Lending catastrophe? Democrats, Republicans, or banking CEOs?

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Wasn’t it Democrat-lead policies that lead to irresponsible and/or unqualified people being loaned money for homes?

Then when they couldn’t repay a barrage of foreclosures ensued?
So what should be do?

Fine the people who foreclosed on their loans? Will that help the economy?
