What would I need to bring with me to get a bank account at Bank of America?

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

I hate the bank I have now. I opened my current bank account with my mother and she handled all the personal information then.

I know I can get an account online but I would much rather open the account in person so I can ask someone my questions and get a real response.

I’d like to know what I have to bring to get a savings and/or a checking account. I don’t want to have to make two trips to the bank.

What is the problem with President Obama’s deficit plan?

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Almost all countries use deficit financing (or simply printing currency) to constantly provide more employment and a feeling of well being. Inflation goes up naturally but I find country like India with big deficits does not seem to have any problem as the inflation is compensated by rise in wages. In USA the only way to solve the housing problem is deficit financing or creating more money as this will raise the home prices and eventually clean up banks. Hence what is the problem with President’s plan?

Employer didn’t put state info on w-2s?

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

I quit a job last year and my former employer has done everything they can to make it hard on me since then. They stopped my direct deposit so I had to get my last checks sent from corporate, then a month later mailed me another check so when I cashed it the place cancelled it and my bank charged me fees… then when I called they said “we already sent you your checks.” Ok so WHY send me another a month later???

Now I’m doing my taxes and they have the federal info on my w2 but not state! What do I do?

What after rejecting credit card amendment?

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Month before the end of 0% APR on my credit card I received a notice of “Important Amendment on Credit Card Agreement”. After doing some research I still not sure should I select the option of rejecting this amandment or not. I know that if I will chose the rejection, my credit crad account will be closed. Doing so, how much it can affect to my credit record? Does this makes any difference to my credit score? I read somewhere “the longer you’ve had this credit card the more it will hurt your credit to cancel it…” how much truth in this?
Thanks in advance.

Is US Bank always late with their bill pay?

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

I recently opened a checking and savings at US Bank. I enrolled in their online bill pay to pay all my bills automatically. All the bills that get paid electronically are paid on time however all the bills that get paid via the post office are always 3-4 days late. I know I am not entering the dates wrong as the electronic or ach transfers always post the day they are due. However the bills that cannot be paid via ach, are late.

I switched to US Bank from Bank of America. Bank of America never once was late on any of my bills. I went to the local branch in which they really didnt help. They suggested I just change the due dates 3-4 days earlier. I guess I could just mail the bills myself but I figure that this is a free service they provide and the postage I would save would add up over time.

Have you had the same problems with US Bank and what did you do to fix it? US Bank has been good about paying any late charges that have incurred as a result though.
One more detail…

US Bank automatically mails these payments to arrive by the due date. I just enter what date the bill is due by and they guarantee it will arrive by that day. I do not know when the payment is mailed, they are supposed to know how long it takes to get there.

I notice that US Bank doesnt have as many bills in their bill pay that transfer electronically. Bank of America had an awesome bill pay but their nearest branch was 40 minutes away. US Bank has branches almost everywhere which is very convenient.
I also do not mean banks in the US but the chain of banks called US BANK. They are all over in my area but am not sure how far spread they are.
