Which military branch deploys the most soldiers to the desert?

A long time friend of mine has recently decided to join the US Marines. I support his decision, but obviously I am worried because we are at war. Are the Marines responsible for most of the troops in the desert, or is it the Army?
Also: I’m not sure what type of job he requested, but what kinds of jobs are most likely to deploy to the middle east?

Is there a way to close a WAMU checking account without going to a branch? The nearest branch is 6 hours away?
