Should a 16 yro get totally FREE IRA account at my local bank?

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Hi,

I have a stable job and Im 16 I was planning to get a $1000 market account and some $500 CDs. I am a big SAVER I NEVER have to spend my money cause I worked hard for it.

My parents wont let me invest online nor would they let me open accounts at other institutions. Now im stuck at my local bank for now.

I know, I read and took a little dig in finding a little info about IRAs. Its insured by the FDIC up to $250,000 and it can only be open when one is 59 years old and its TAX FREE. Never pay taxs when you open and there is nifty fees to open when one reaches into their IRA prematurely.

1) So, here this brings to my question should I get a totally free IRA account that has no minimum balance at my bank?

2) Why should I get it I might die before I reach age 59?

3) Whats the whole purpose of invidual retirement accounts doesn’t it destroy the purpose of 401K’s, pensions, social security?

5) SHould I get the totally free IRA account at my local bank and why?

Insufficient Funds Fee Problem. @ Chase Bank?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Ok, This is my Third Time having a Negative Balance in my account

well 3 Days ago I Purchased 4 things online with my Debit Card and went Negative (-$158.35)
and I haven’t been Charged for an Insufficient Funds Fee Yet up to this day (Minus Sunday) I do Direct Deposits every month From Social Security ($637) and I was wondering if they’re gonna charge me or not?
There’s also been an incident where my Debit Card was Stolen and got a Refund from My Fee. My Questions are:

1. Will they eventually Charge me?
2. Do they know I do Direct Deposits/So they’re just letting this one go?
3. How many Times will they Charge me for (Chase Bank) 1 or 4 because of the Purchase(s)
4. How Much will they Charge? Last one was $64 - But that was because someone stole my debit Card. - Will it be the Same?
5. How much do you think I’ll have to Pay in Total?

What would you say to President Bush in a letter, if you had the inclination to write him one?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

I don’t have the inclination, but here’s what I’d say:

Dear President Bush:

Thank you for ruining the chance for Texas to ever have another president elected again. Also thank you for that social security plan that you promised and never came into effect the entire 4 years you were in office. By the time I’m ready to retire, I know I won’t be banking on anything associated with the government. By the way, thanks for all the free health care I don’t qualify for since I’m not from Mexico.

H&R Block’s bank is sending my money back to IRS. HELP?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

I knew something like this was going to happen. just no luck, shouldn’t have moved i guess. Husband called HR Block again this AM when the funds were not in the emerald card. got the number for the bank that the card is thru. He was told there was a red flag on his credit report and then began to ask him questions like did he live at such an address which he didn’t so he said no did he know a susan ****** who owed property he said no, and then they told him he didn’t past the security test and that they were sending the refund back to the IRS. now hopefully we can get a live person in the IRS and change the direct deposit. is this even possible? I can not believe this. I will NEVER use HR Block again. anyone know what I can do I am desperate.
this was not a RAL…….. not a loan this was my TAX REFUND… which BTW H&R Block forgot $600. the IRS said that they found a $600 credit and my refund was directly deposited on febuary 13, 2009. this infact was my refund not a loan.
I havent a clue what the fourth person is talking about . but he is not newly “minted” and what is with the letters your have? he got his refund no problem last year but we lived in pa and went thru liberty tax. I do not do taxes as I am on SSDI.

Is it possible for a bank teller to access my identity info and use it for fraud?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

I have had a bizairre experience with a bank recently and trying to figure out why I was treated the way I was. I am now wondering if insulting customers so they leave is a way to then use their social security number, and all the info on the original application to fraudulently do something using my identity?
The bank has my fathers middle name, my mom’s maiden name and the city where I was born in addition to my personal info.
I know this sounds strange, but nothing this bank has done to me seems logical. The tellers are aware of my other bank because I have written checks to deposit into this bank as needed. I am concerned that they wanted me to leave so one or a few of the tellers can use my identity somehow. I don’t know how to take precaustions?
I was told by the bank manager that the teller that picked on me went out on sick leave for 8 weeks for back surgery. My concern is that she took my info and other customers to use herself or sell to someone else. Her behavior was very susupicious to me.

Is it better for an actor to get a TIN or use their Social Security Number to set up accounts with?

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

I am wondering what everyone thinks about having a Taxpayer Identification Number to set up bank and credit accounts with as an actor. I know in most other businesses this offers a clear advantage but as an actor it does fall into the grey area. Any help would be most appreciated.

Can my landlord move in to the building I am renting from without telling me?

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

I am currently renting the first floor of a house, and another gentleman is renting the second floor. I have noticed recently that our landlord’s vehicle (and her girlfriend’s) have been present in our circular driveway day in and day out and the lights are on up in the attic every night. I am also not positive if there is a third electric meter present. I have only noticed 2 and one on the garage next to us. Could it be possible that she is running off of our electricity? Also doesn’t she need to notify me if she will be present on a constant basis? When we signed the lease she had stated she is only there every so often and too busy elsewhere to always be around.

One last thing, I have been reading that it is required by law for her to provide me with a receipt from the security deposit showing that she deposited it into an interest bearing account, the amount, bank name, and account number. She has not done so and I do not believe she will and I have lived there for 4 months now
According to the Massachusetts State Tenant Rights, I do have the right to a receipt with the bank information of the deposit and the amount. Up to 5% interest is due back to me after living there for 1 year.

http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=ocaterminal&L=4&L0=Home&L1=Consumer&L2=Housing+Information&L3=Tenant+%26+Landlord&sid=Eoca&b=terminalcontent&f=tenants_rights_and_responsibilities&csid=Eoca
Oh and we did not give her a check for anything. She demanded everything in Cash. Rent, deposits, and first and last. She wants everything in cash. And she charges $50 if I am 5 or more days late. But according to this website she cannot charge me anything until I am 30 days late. Is that true?
