Why would a bank teller adamantly refuse to initial my transaction?

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

For the past 9 years, I have had to deal with a credit union where the tellers are cliquey, and often openly rude and gossipy. They have made mistakes on my bank deposits, accounts etc. which have cost me over $100.00. When I confronted them, they did not resolve the problem; I was forced to accept my losses, but I asked if they would each initial every transaction from then on. This week, while depositing my paycheques, I noticed that the transaction was not initialed by the teller, so I asked her to please initial it. At that point, she loudly and rudely informed me at length that she would stamp the transaction, but not initial it. Any advice?
Please note that I have to use this credit union, that’s all there is in my town.
After reading the reply from the former bank manager, I have another question?
If it’s “not technically part of her job”, why does my receipt form have a space on it which says ‘Tellers Initials’?

Bank did not deposit my check to checking account and now I have negative balance. What should I do?

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Hi, thanks for checkin’ this out. So this Friday was my payday and I went to bank as usual and deposited my check into my checkings account. After banking my check, I bought some foods and jersey the same date I cashed my check and everything went fine. But today, when I tried to buy smoothie while I was on break from work, the card was declined 5 times. After I came home from work, I went to my bank’s website and checked my balance and it is at negative. Where did my money go? If it disappeared, will bank give their own money to me? I am very pissed off right now… Detailed and precise answer will get 10 points. Thanks…
Everytime I deposit my paycheck, the amount is there as soon as I deposit it. It never took more than hour for it to show up on my balance.
I have been working at Macy’s for 5 month now. Everytime I did this, I was able to use my debit card right away without worrying about negative balance and I never got declined. This time, that was not the case. Bank forgot to do their job of depositing it or did not warn me about avaliability of my fund use. What you talkin’ about get annoyed at myself…

Republic Bank tax return direct deposit?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

I e-filed my taxes on Feb. 17th with efile.com. I chose to have the tax prep fees deducted from my return. They use Republic Bank to receive your refund, deduct your fees, then direct deposit the remainder into your bank account. Well i checked on the IRS website and the IRS telephone number to check the status of your return and it says that my refund is scheduled to be deposited on Feb 25th.. But I checked with Republic Bank and they are saying that they received my refund yesterday (Feb. 20th) and that it is being direct deposited to my bank account via ACH.. This just seems conflicting to me. The IRS says the 25th but Republic Bank says they already have it.. Has this happened to anyone else? If so.. please explain this to me.. Thanks!

My bank rejected my IRS direct deposit?

Friday, August 28th, 2009

So my husband’s bank rejected the IRS’ EFT that was supposed to go through last Friday because my husband and I have diffferent last names, and somehow they put his first and middle names on the refund and my last name (dont know how that’s possible) but at any rate, the bank rejected the eft. What is my next course of action, will the IRS change the name on the EFT and send it again? If not how long will it take to get a paper check?
Finally got in touch with IRS, they said they would be sending out a paper check. Any idea how long THIS process will take?

Suppose that Jonathon deposits $200 cash in Main Street Bank. Assume that this deposit represents new money entering the system. It is not, for example, withdrawn from another bank. Also assume the reserve requirement is 20% and that banks do not hold excess reserves. When the expansion/contraction process is complete, which of the following statements accurately reflects the changes that occur in the banking system?

A. As other banks are affected, Main Street Bank may find itself short reserves.

B. Other banks in the system will experience larger increases in reserves than Main Street Bank.

C. The total amount of new lending in the banking system will be $400.

D. Main Street Bank’s reserves increase by $160 and its loans increase by $40.

E. The total increase in deposits in the banking system will equal $1,000.

What bank should I open a checking/savings account with?

Friday, June 19th, 2009

I just turned 18 recently, and I have been looking to change banks. At the moment I use my parents credit union, but its not for me. I need a bank that will offer me a checking/savings account with good interest rates (considering the current market) and one which offers online banking and direct deposit. I didn’t know where else to turn, which is sad.
