If your debit card has a Visa or MasterCard symbol on it, it should work like a credit card.

I have used only my debit card for the last year. I use it to order things online and I’ve used it to book plane tickets, hotel rooms, and rental cars. It works fine.

The only problem you would have would be if your account was overdrawn.

Yes, hotels accept debit cards. However, to protect themselves, hotels usually charge your account for at least twice what you will owe. They will issue a credit in a few days but in the meantime, your account my be overdrawn and even if it isn’t, those funds are frozen.

Hotels are not the only businesses that do this with debit cards.
