there is nothing wrong with them speaking theirs in the public. the thing is them speaking theirs and not understanding ours. due to that it’s making things bad for us (everything has changed).

There is no need. When some one come here they should also accept the culture, Language and people. That is the reason elders said “When you are Rome be like Roman” They did not ask to stay British or American.

It’s called diversity. And its not a bad thing. A person shouldn’t feel ashamed of their culture or let it go. But I would think if a person is here in the United States it would be nice and expected of them to learn THIS culture and assimilate and learn the language as well. They certainly shouldn’t expect the US to learn their language to accommodate them. But at the same time they really appreciate it if someone does speak their language too. We are all human and children of God.

Because we live in a globalization, we need from others.
But You should ask yourself Why don’t start to learn another language instead of be worried about the people speaking other languages.
Remember this is a Free Country!
Are you capable to do? As many of immigrants that we have to learn and live another culture, You should do too.

Well as the United States we are made up of just about every nation in the world. Its so important for people not to forget where they come from. Our heritage and language is a part of us. As an African American I wish i could even trace more than 4 generations back in my own family and know where we came from, what language we spoke. Its the beauty of the United States. Secondly America is made up of several nations. North America is made up of Canada, Mexico and the United States. We should understand our nieghbors anyway. Most other nations I have traveled to speak up to three languages including the native of the country. In many places infact it is required in school that a person learn 2 foriegn languages as early as elementary school. This is for so many reasons..remember that knowledge is power. the ris so much truth in that. If students in the U.S. were required to learn other languages we would be more advanced in so many areas internationally. Im from the U.S. I grew up on the brink of poverty. I have managed to travel the world as early as 16 by working and saving every dime while we were struggling to get by. I speak French and Greek and am going to learn another language as I am studying international relations. Its so important to be globally aware and the United States is so equipped with the tools we need to start that communication…and you are really lucky if it could be your nieghbor I say take advantage of our differences and use them for learning from one another instead of knocking and closing out the ideas and languages ( and its such a beautiful thing to communicate with someone through learning how to speak their language) of other cultures. Be well.

The United States is a melting pot. The think of the United States is to think of diversity. We would be nothing if it weren’t for this foundation of our society. So, of course all people are welcome to do as they wish and speak whichever languages they choose. It’s not a necessity, it is just something that will always be.

We live in a global economy. People who know more than one language have an edge over people like myself when applying for a job. Do you know how many want ads are posted in the paper say ‘bilingual accountant wanted’. I know Pig Latin but I am pretty sure that isn’t the language they’re looking for.

Do you know how many job opportunities abroad could open up for me if I knew how to speak a European language such as French or Spanish?

Would you like to live overseas as a civilian? Or even want to travel somewhere else? Have you even entertained the idea? I want my daughter to have the opportunity to live elsewhere and knowing a foreign language will bring her greater and better opportunities.

My best friend in high school was fluent in Vietnamese, French and Arabic. She graduated from a private college with a degree in Finance with a GPA greater than 4.0. I am pretty sure that by now she has her MBA from some prestigious college or university and is most likely working for the government as she was always fascinated with the politics and power in Washington.

But the point is this, you are either in control or being controlled. And it’s people with a broad education and money are in control and determine the outcome for others. Do you think that those in control know only English? I highly doubt it.

  10. AMM Says:

It’s only to America’s benefits that its citizens speak different languages in addition to English. Why does it bother you if others speak languages other than English as long as they can communicate in English with you? As others have already mentioned that we live in a global economy today, the more languages you understand, the more valuable you become.

  11. kikoman Says:

This is a free country do you not remember Mrs Bush !

Americans have a right to speak any languages they chose.

Type in search “American Languages” and you will learn there are 300 languages spoken in the United States, With 20 of those languages have one million or more speakers, and contrary to neo con myth 6 of them are European !

  12. YA answers Says:

Not trying ot be funny here but don’t you realize that English is a foreign language to this country???? The name of the language should give it away that it belongs to another country not the US! Please! Would you argue that English be done away with?

  13. j&j Says:

We can’t stop other from speaking their native language. Are you jealous that you can’t speak other languages then english because I speak four and when I travel I feel good about it.
