If I remember correctly the state refund arrives about 1-2 weeks after the Federal Return. I did my federal return online at H&R Block and it turned out that my actual return was 20% of what they had projected ! Needless to say I wasn’t happy.

Honestly, I don’t think you will ever get your state refund. CA announced they have no money for tax refunds this year and is essentially offering IOUs. Good luck getting it.

On Jan 17th the Californian controller announced they would suspend tax refund payments on Feb 1st for 30 days. So there is really no telling when you will get your refund. For sure refunds won’t start until March 2nd at the earliest. On the plus side…if you do not receive you refund by 45 days after April 15th you are entitled to collect interest on your refund!
